All teachers will receive 1 week of training for which they are paid. Most teachers will have a proportion of their lessons being children's classes. The training is aimed mainly at the teaching of young learners although many of the principles can be applied to teaching adults. The training involves workshops on the teaching of reading and writing, classroom control, setting up of activities and lesson planning. Teachers also observe existing teachers.
During the first week teachers are given a tour of their local area including a first shopping trip to buy essentials, and bank accounts are opened. We like to develop a good team spirit amongst all the staff and teachers, so expect to be dragged out for a big slap-up meal in your first week and regularly afterwards!
